DDC-01 Controller programming

My timer goes on at 8:30 am and turns off at 9:30 pm. I want to use either 8 or 10 hour modes. I tried the modes with the timer and the lights turn on at 8:30 and off at 9:30. They sent following the set time as stated. How do I set the modes? Or when do I press the mode button to begin the 8 or 10 hour mode?

You can press the 8 or 10 hour mode button anytime you have power to the DDC-01. When the controller is turned back on by the timer it will automatically go to the last program and it will start the cycle right then. It does not have a clock inside so timer on the program starts as soon as you power the controller.

If your timer is on for 13 hours and you use the 8 or 10 hour setting then your lights will be at minimum settings for the last 4 or 1 1/2 hours.

what i don't understand is why the lights, if turned on at 8:30 am (and it's the 8 hour setting) would stay on (dimmed mode) until 9:30 pm (the time the timer goes off).

That is just part of the programming of the DDC-01 that at the end of the ramp down cycle (30, 45 or 60 minutes depending on the setting) it goes to minimum setting until power is shut off, and not 0. You'd have to ask RapidLED why they set it up that way.

Rapid, is this true? So even if the DDC is set up only for 8 hours, it'll stay on until the timer goes off? In this case, on at 8:30 am, goes through 30 minutes sunrise, 7 hrs daylight, and 30 minutes sunset, then timer goes off at 9:30 PM

OR

on at 8:30 am, goes thru 30 min sunrise, 7 hrs daylight, then then remaining time sunset until 9:30 pm?
