dead anemone

My long tentacle anemone had disappeared and has been missing for two weeks. He was in the tank about a month, but even after two weeks didn't attach. I think his foot was damaged. Anyway the flow of the tank pushed his somewhere and I can't find him. I'm afraid the dead body will hurt everything else in my tank. The nitrates have all ready jump from 0 to 20 in two days. Most of my corals are unhappy and my cauliflower coral looks really bad, decomposing before my eyes. :( Is it worth taking apart my tank to find the dead body, or is it already gone, turned to goo?

If you can't find the body and are unable to take apart the tank. I would do large water changes frequently.

I would try to find the body. If the nitrates are spiking, your tank seems that it is not capable of handing the death. Like cycle nut said if not able to take the tank apart, do smaller water changes frequently. Be careful of large changes though, these can really throw off the chemical balance of your system and do more harm that good.

I've decided to dismantle the tank and to try to find the body. I want do the least stressful thing for the fish, plus my sister flipped a coin for me and dismantling won over water changes. :)

To be honest, I would just do large frequent water changes. By now, the anemones probably liquified (you'll know what I mean if you've seen one that's been dead for a couple days). Sorry for your loss and hope your corals pull through.
