Hey,

One of my Croceas isn't looking too good. It is about 5 in., and is gorgeous. It seems that my cleaner shrimp is always picking at it, and the clam never has a chance to open up fully. Today, it really dosn't look good. It isn't closed, but its mantle is only partially open...but you can see inside of the clam.

I will try to get get pics as soon as can transfer them.

ansatlas bought a crocea from the same place you did (don't want to mention names) and his just died. the mantle had started to receed. How long have you had the clam for?

I have had the clam for about a month...i think. I got it when he got in the huge assortment of the big croceas.

The mantale was always out, until yesterday. I just turned the MH on today, so i can't tell how the clam is doing.

Alright, here is a pic.

goner. I would get it out of the tank soon. Once the mantle starts to seperate from the shell like that and recedes all the way in coupled with the fact that shrimp is picking at it means that clam is dead.

Yep, its dead. It stunk up my entire house.

What do I do with it? I can't flush it becuase the shell would get caught.

I think i am going to gut it out, throw away the disgusting stuff, and save the shells. I could always use them as a frag mounting surface, or just as decor on the bottom of my sand bed.

Or smash the shell up really really well and throw it back into a calcium reactor. Let all that become another beautiful creature.
Sorry about the clam, it sucks.
