Dead French Angel

Ive had this 4 1/2 inch french angel for about a month now and its been healthy and eating great ever since day one. Last night when I fed, he was great, eating and swimming around. 2 hours later right before I went to bed, he was laying on his side breathing heavy. I watched him for a while and saw him "throw up" some pellets I had fed him. woke up this morning and it was dead. Does anyone know what could have caused something like this?

Sorry for your loss. French angel is my favorite fish.

It sounds like he choked on the pellets. Maybe he was too eager to eat and wasn't careful when he swallowed the food. Another possibility is perhaps the food went bad. Fish are more delicate than we think I guess...

ive heard of fish choking on food as they eagerly eat what they cant fit in there mouths and prevent water from passing through to there Gills and can cause death but Pellets seems a bit unlikly but anything is possible

Yeah, it sucks. He was a really cool fish. Its just wierd that he was fine and then like a hour later laying on his side. Ive never had a fish do that.

sorry to hear about the french.

any chance it could be related to some of your recent parasite problems? i remember you had a thread about ich and possible velvet.

btw, what brand and size pellets do you feed?
