Dead powerhead and controller

My powerhead has gone dead and my 7095 controller shows no power either.

I checked the powerstrip, the sockets still have power.

Is it possible/likely that my power supply went bad?

I've got a 7095 controller with 2 pumps. I think they are 6101's, but might be 6201's. I'll have to check at home. I took one of the pumps out for cleaning a while ago and got lazy about putting it back in. Now I can't find the power supply for that one, so I can't switch and check the one on the powerhead in the tank.

In any case, is the replacement power supply a $55 item as shown on the Tunze.com website? Part 6105.24?

Is there a generic power supply that can replace this?

Thanks,

Jason

6101 uses 6105.240, you can use a laptop power supply with a 2.5mm by 5.5 mm output tip positive. It should be rated for 50W, you can typically find these for about $40-60 at a local computer store, 24V would be ideal, but the most common is 19V and is sold to replace Acer and Panasonic power supplies, this will work but the pump will be marginally weaker. The 6201 needs at least an 80W power supply, other specs are the same but an 80W power supply typically costs $100-$140, we actually use a 110W power supply as they run much cooler for the 6201, this is our part 6300.240. The wattage is important because unlike charging a laptop the power supply is called on 24/7 so a bit of overkill helps them run cooler, by all means avoid power supplies with built in fans as you don't want humid salt air blown over them.

A dead power supply is a likely culprit as the controller is power by the pump.

Thanks. I ordered a 6105.24 power supply from the Tunze website. Hopefully, this solves my problem.

Thanks. I got it fast. It worked on both pumps. I'll order another to replace the one that I can't find.
