Dead shrimp not dead---Crawling Zoas??

HA HA HA I am an idiot. My Banded Cleaner shrimp appeared yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks. So I guess that carcass I found was his molten shell. duh. He looks bigger than he did a few weeks ago. He is hiding in the back like the serpent star.

Also, I have a wierd one for you, when I got my last set of zoa frags, one bunch about 4-5 heads fell to the sand behind a bunch of rock and was impossible to get to without rearranging about 5 large rocks. They laid there for about a week, then last night I found them out from underneath and in the front near my clam. The move was about 6-7 inches over or under rocks. Do you think my Arrow crab moved them? Where they were stuck was located in a secluded place.

do they move themselves that much?

Haha the same thing happened to me with my coral banded shrimp... Twice (tricky devil). This last time was just last week. Every morning before I leave for school (Duquesne), I check all my creatures. This particular morning I looked in and saw my beloved Corallina(my mom named her LOL) looking smashed in the corner. Not having enough time to remove her, I went on with my day so sad. Then I remembered how badly I got tricked last time but thought that it was too early for her to have molted again already. With some wishful thinking, I got on the computer at school and checked how often they molt and found that oftentimes it's the week before (or a week within) a full moon, which we will have tonight! (must be why yours molted. Very neat, huh?)This happened precisely 6 days ago, so I thought there was a good chance I was duped again. So I called home to my dad immediately and asked him "do you see two corallinas In there?". LOL he said "no she's definitely dead. There's no way this is a shell. I has antennas and claws and everything". As soon as I removed the phone from my ear to hang up I hear my dad screaming "omg there's another one! It's moving around!" LOL needless to say I was smiling ear to ear the rest of the day. I wanted to tell my friends but I knew no one would care or even hve any clue what I was talking about, so I'm glad you brought this up. They are such good tricksters!
As for your reappearing zoas, I don't believe they're capable of moving themselves dramatically like that. You must have a good Samaritan in your tank. Haha very strange.

flow could move them around like that too if a crab isn't the culprit. I had this with my precious mantis shrimp (my first foray into saltwater about 8 years ago.) I was so broken hearted until I realized that she was just further back into her cave than normal.

I think it was the crab, the zoas were in a dead zone as far as flow, they were under 2 rocks in the corner in the back. Thank you Arrow Crab!!

Yes, various shrimps and crabs will move loose corals. I have a friend in south hills who swears his shrimp ate his coral. He'd put in a small frag, and a 'gang' of shrimp would come out (with lights on), grab the small frag, and dart back to a corner. The exact opposite of Yinzer's scenario. Some of these buggers hoard corals and pieces or rock to build their homes like American Pickers, while others choose to dump it elsewhere. Funny stuff.
