Ok...first of all an apology because I sorta posted this a couple weeks ago but I have since found additional information that I want to know from my friends on RC if I should pull the trigger on this or not
I want to get to a bigger tank eventually...not that I would jump into financing an immediate build right now...but would like to at least have a tank on hand so I could over the course of the next year start acquiring things and building a stand and a canopy and, you know...eventually getting to the point where I could upgrade my current 29 BioCube to a 75 gallon reef...slowly
So anyway, there is a guy locally who has a 75 (its an All-Glass Aquarium made in 1996 and the back is coated/painted with that blue you see) in the paper with a stand for $200. Here is the picture of that:
So I go over there and look "under the stand" and there is a 20 gallon sump and a Red Sea Berlin skimmer with some various hoses and an overflow box (not that I want to use the overflow box at all..I'd rather be able to drill the tank or do a Calflo or something like that) but anyway, he also shows me a bunch of lighting stuff too...a 48" tube light and then also a metal halide bulb in a cheesy fixture (didn't see a ballast off hand) but they had like aluminum foil as reflector or something in there...the fixture was definately cheap.
I don't know anything about Red Sea Berlin skimmers, but am wondering if I offered them $150 for everything if it would be worth it? or do you think I should go even lower?..what do you RC friends...deal or no deal?
I would be ripping up the stand and probably using the wood to build a better one and the lights and other crap are pretty much a wash...really the only things I would use are the tank, maybe the skimmer if it is any good, and the sump.
