Death of a watchmen

My watchmen goby has passed away and left his pistol shrimp buddy alone .
I was wondering if I get another watchmen . Will the pistol except him and form a new pair ?

Pistol shrimp are selective of what species of shrimp goby they 'hang' with. It would help you in selecting a partner if knew what species of pistol shrimp you have, although they are known to pair with shrimp gobies in the aquarium that they wouldn't pair with in the wild.

Japanese pistol ? { red in color } with yellow watchmen
the pistol was paired up with a blue/pink dotted watchmen .
