debating about going to the other side

I have been going back and forth for about 2 months now about going all SPS and LPS. I love all the zoos and ricordia that I have-but I cant keep up with the growth. When you have thousands of polyps of zoos you dont just get 20 new polyps per month, you get hundreds in new growth. They either completley take over another morph or squeeze out something else that floats behind the rocks and bleaches or dies.

From what I have read the growth is not nearly as great in SPS and LPS as it is in ricordia and zoos. The growth would also seem much more manageable because it is growing up and out, not across.

I have a CA reactor so that is no problem. Any feedback would be great from you SPS and LPS keepers. TIA

Nothing says you can't still have some zoas/softies... just isolate them from everything else so that they can't grow beyond their own rock. I love Xeina but I have them on a small rock on the sand so that they can't grow beyond that rock.

If I switch I will not be keeping any softies. I prefer the look of all one type.
Is growth rate that much slower on SPS and LPS?

i would say go with what makes you happy


why not go buy a single sps and see how you like it

after a month than sell you stuff and buy a couple more if that is what you want to do

Does anyone local have a large collection of acans or blastos? That could be a neat species tank.

My euphyllia (frogspawn & torch) grow like crazy. I just keep braking the stems in half and selling them to the LFS. My SPS grows, but not as extreme.

Phil, one of theses days I need to get with you, I would love to have more Zoo's and Ric's.. The center of my tank is going to be all Zoo's and ric's and the outter sides are going to be SPS's and Clam's.. Or at least that is what I'm going for right now.

gillies-for some reason I am drawn to the LPS that spread horizontal, maybe because I am use to those type of corals.??? Nothing against frogspawn but I like alot of bright color-that is why I was leaning towards acans and blastos and micromussa. Just trying to figure it all out.
Reeferhead-zoos and rics can be a real PITA depending on how many you have. Nice avatar BTW
