like all things in this hobby. I have my fare share of why did I buy that but in the last year I have been through 2 differant ph monitors, first a pinpoint now a milwaukee. is there any good monitor that I can get that will last a while, or should I skip it all together and rely on chemical testing?

Hmm, I had a Milwaukee Ph monitor as well as a Milwaukee PH controller for years with out any problems...

What kind of problems are you having? I did find that the Milwaukee probes were garbage so I used pinpoint probes. They lasted much longer....

both would not calibrate and for the price of a probe Im better off buying a unit again. The milwaukee will calibrate on the front o.k. but the back slope will not work at all so when I dip in ph 4 solution it reads 6 my tank ph reads 7.1 so Im not sure how far its off

How old is the probe? I had to replace the Milwaukee probes about twice a year and the pinpoint about once.

Good luck!

I've always like Hanna instruments personally.. 1 Year Warranty on the probe and they don't quibble about it.
