Decided to Drill...now...

I have performed a few searches and can't quite find what I'm looking for. I would love to find a diagram of a simple overflow and return setup. I have looked at this one: Click Here but it looks a bit complicated, and I don't know where to place the return. Are there any step-by-step resources for beginners on where to have the tank drilled, and how to plumb and build the overflow boxes?

Thanks again, everyone.

I guess I should clarify - I am taking the tank to be drilled, not doing the actual cutting myself! I am interested in where to place the drain and return holes and plumbing descriptions.

Thanks!

All you need is a hole for the drain and a hole for the return. Size depends on your tank.

Even if you don't want to do the drilling, glass-holes can help you find your overflow. That may determine where you wish to place your holes.

The holes should be as far from the edge or each other as the diameter of the largest hole. A hole should never be closer than 3/4" from the edge. Many tanks have tempered bottoms that can not be drilled.

Hope this helps.

Bean Animals is a great design. but true you need have some skills, but I think that's the fun part about the hobby. Whys hit it on the head about the basics of drilling holes. I was worried with my first hole that I drilled (I could ruin this expensive tank) but by being extremely careful it turned out to be really easy. glass-holes has a step-by-step on how to drill a hole.
