Deciding on that last fish...

I'm trying to decide on a final fish. I'm looking for something bigger, something in the small-tang, small-angel, small-foxface type range. Tank setup:

120g
70g +/- Refugium
Lavender Tang
Copperband Butterfly
Pair of Clowns
Harem of Leopard Wrasses

My current fish hide like I abuse them. My worries are that I don't want something that will overly bully my leopards or my butterfly. I'd like something eyecatching and somewhat unusual, with a limit on price around $300.

Tangs... I'm not sure which are compatible with my lavender, and many get too big.

Foxface... I don't want to get nailed with a poison spine, and I'm really AD/HD.

Emperor Angel would be my dream but I think a 120g is too small?

Golden Angelfish are beautiful... but are shy from what I've read?

I've got SPS, Softies, LPS, I don't really care what gets eaten, as long as it's not one of my other fish.

If you took the time to read all of this, you're a champ. If you have a suggestion for something unusual, peaceful, and eye-catching, you're my hero.

Thank you!

Personally I would stick with just one tang.

Foxface -- up to you

Tank is too small for an emperor angel.

As for the Golden angel, given that your fish already seem to hide a lot, I think this would be a poor choice. IME with them they are pretty secretive, even more so when the other fish are skittish. Think you would be better off with a different dwarf angel.

Thank you for the input. In considering dwarf angels, do you have one you'd recommend that isnt too boisterous and is somewhat uncommon?

While it is technically a Paracentropyge, I am really found of my P Venustus,

Then there is C. Multicolor

The pictures are absolutely beautiful. Any ways I think one should have fish that one could take care of. It is not always easy to take of reef aquarium. It needs our absolute care at all times. So keep in mind if you will be able to take care of all the fish. And decide on a fish before making the tank. Not all fish need a big tank and a heater for setting right temperature.

Maybe a Scotts fairy wrasse (cooks island variation), or a Rhomboid or Lineatus fairy wrasse. If youre leaning towards an angel, a golden pygmy angel may be a nice touch. good luck!

Goldens are nice, but difficult to find, and even more difficult to find a eating one.

When I had mine (( lost it to a fight with a pair of pink skunks with an S. Haddoni )), I never actually saw it eat prepared foods, though it appeared to gain weight during its 3 months with me.

I vote for the foxface. Mine has lots of personality. As for the venemous spines, I think you almost have to try to make contact. I wouldn't worry about it. And I'm a worrier

-Pyramid or Zoster butterflyfish (Maybe a few)
-Yellow Longnose butterflyfish
-Bannerfish (Heniochus) Butterfly
-Genicanthus Angels
-Pair of Centropyge
-Harem of anthias to act as dither fish

Of course don't add them all, but just some suggestions.

I've got a Copperband Butterfly and was under the impression that it basically makes all of the other Butterflys off limits? Right now a Magnificent Foxface or pair of Bellus Angels is at the top of my list... seem like the most peaceful options.

I recommend the following for consideration:

a pair of Pink Margin wrasse
a pair of female Rhomboids (when on sale will fit your budget)
a pair of Venustus angels (very easy going)

I had a very skittish blue tang, then I brought home a kole tang. The kole was so out going that the two of them were swimming out in the open in no time. I think the blue realized there was nothing to fear when he saw how the kole could swim out in the open with out being eaten. Anyways if I were you I would get a fish that is not skittish at all in hopes your other fish will come around. P.S. the kole tang doesn't get to big and is a beautiful fish.

What's the rule on keeping multiple tangs in a tank? I thought if their body types are similar it's a no go?

I'm really liking those Venustus angels... how hard are they to get to pair up?

A pair of goldens would be so cool and they roll on to DD pretty often (not pairs but multiple goldens at one time). I've had mine for about 7 months from DD and he isn't shy at all anymore.

I'll keep my eyes peeled from DD then...
