can someone confirm if this is a Decorator Crab?
found this this morning at the beach looking for a clean up crew.
Pics are a bit murky as I just added fine sand to the water but I hope they are clear enough?

Looks like one to me. Just so you are aware they eat corals despite what many web sites say. My half eaten lobo and missing head of blasto will tell you. Also my crab looked exactly like your.

Hi Dirk,

that is some kind of decorateur crab, yes. But this is just a vernacular name given to many species of crabs. This is obviously not Camposcia retusa, it might be another crab of the family Majidae where the most decorateur crabs occur.

Decorators will eat every zoo you have in your tank, i lost a huge fire and ice colony to one before i finally caught and removed it.

There may be decorateur crabs that feed on some corals, sure. But since "decorators" are many species one can't say they eat this or that. ;)
