Deep blue tank reviews?

I was at PC and saw the Deep Blue rimless tanks.:inlove: Grabbed Joe right away! I was like a kid in a candy store;) I also like how the stands open from the front and the side. In my 75 right now I need to clean my skimmer but I can't get it out of my sump. I'm moving by the end of March so I'm thinking it might be a good time to change tanks. Start clean with new rock and everything.

Anyone have one of these tanks and could give a review??

I bought the 57 rimless from them and love it. It's pretty much mint except that the overflow box is too big which Im sure you saw already. Very happy with the tank so far, the black silicone is awesome, I don't think I'd ever buy another tank that didn't have that.

I like the overflow. But my first tank was an AGA and it had the large overflow that was offset center. Much better than the tank I have now with a very small corner overflow. I'm really wanting this tank!!

I read someone (you know how you google and up comes everything!!) that gave the tank and stand bad reviews but didn't say why. And I think it was a year ago. Wanted to see a review that was more recent. I really like the 60 cube but I have a lineatus wrasse that really likes to swim as well as a McCoskers. And they like my 75 that's 4 feet long.
Now I have to review curing dry rock again. I think I'm going to get a big rubbermaid tub and stick it downstairs in the bathroom and cure it so when I'm ready to move I can just go set up the tank, stick in the cured new rock and then just transfer the fish. Sounds easy.....doesn't it??:D

my display is the 80g RR "breeder" style tank... 48x24x16 high... black silicone, and i think the overflow is done well...

i recommend them for a quality, lower cost tank...

i wouldnt recomend these tanks to a stranger lol i had 2 shipped in and wow what poor quality i suppose if your seeing the tank in person thats a deifferent story but still the quality is poor at best in my opinion and was not impressed with the overflow it was made of 3 peices of plastic siliconed together poorly.maker sure you double check all the silicone seams and ive heard there overflows are loud.i would say find another brand but good luck either way you go!

ugh! That's a bummer. So what do you think is the poor quality? The silicone only? I usually do a herbie overflow and run the return lines up and over the back. I think most overflows are noisy. But if you can give me some other details I would appreciate it. It's still a $400 tank without the stand. My 75 I have now was only $200.....

I have it and I can tell you the overflow is not loud the least bit. It's actually quieter than any of my friends tanks with dursos and tubing to help quiet them down. Maybe I got lucky and got a good one, because Im pretty pleased. Marc11 helped me set it up, and the first thing he said was Im jealous of how damn quiet this thing is.

Hazmat just the overall quality was poor if your seeing it in person and check it out thoroughly and it's good then grab it .all silicone was messy and I questioned if it would even hold water

Does it have the usual standpipe plumbing? I didn't really pay that much attention to the overflow (besides where it was located in the tank) because, like I said, I usually just do a herbie. I assume it has a 3/4" for the return and a 1" for the drain? They usually just make the drain too small so you do get the noise of it going into your sump. They should make all drains a 2" and it would really help with noise. From what I saw it looked pretty good to me. But maybe my standards are low since my tank now is not the greatest quality;)

I love that 60 cube rimless , that with a ecotech leds and an mp 40 and a 10 .....i am thinking of making the move . I dont like the stand beind cheap wood but I would buy a different one or make one .
Good luck .

I have a 90rr and I think it's just fine, I'm not sure what the above poster means by overall poor quality. The black silicone is great, the overflow in the corner is great unlike the offset overflow on the aga. The only thing that is poor quality is the plumbing kit, don't even bother with it. I set mine up using herbie overflow plumbing and it can be dead silent if you run the water up high enough. For the price I think it's a fantastic tank. The glass is well done, I've read rumors that it scratches easy, but I havent scratched mine yet and I've hit the sides with rocks etc. shop around I found some places with good deals. I think it's around 40-50 less than the aga. I don't know anything about the rimless tanks.

i have to say i had 2 shipped in and both were scratched up good so im thinking they do scratch easy!

I was at PC yesterday and talked to Joe . I looked over a DB 57 rimless on the floor . The silicone was a lil sloppy on tank but no scratches . He had one in the back .It had no scratches with better silicone work . I waited on a Oceanic but my local lfs could not get one .
U'll pay around 400 for an Illuminata with no Low iron glass and clear silicone .Be prepared to wait for it too. The Illuminata has a slightly smaller o-f box . On the DB 57 the bulkheads suck so get some new ones .I guess they thought two seals per bulkhead was new solution .NOT . It has a Durso type overflow .
For 293.53 out the door with low iron .5 inch glass. (yes it scratches easier since the glass is softer ) and with black silicone it was a no brainer to me . Don't wear jewelry or watches when moving or working on the tank .
Oceanic is not producing tanks like they used to . I did no want to take a chance on buying a returned tank from a vendor who just has one sitting there collecting dust.
I can say I was not pleased with the "forced marketing "on the Illuminata buy a certain vendor . As stated earlier the price is so jacked up compared to the DB 57 causing a forced buy on the DBP . The prices were a lot lower a year or two ago on the Illuminata .
In a nutshell I am pleased with the buy . I had choices of CAD lights , Oceanic .. In perspective all pretty much the same to me except price.

Hmm I never saw an issue with getting an illuminata and the pricing is very comperable. Of course I love my CAD tank and if I ever bought another tank I would go CAD.

Thanks for all the input guys. I really like the 60 cube also. I did like the way the stand opens front and side. I don't even know what brand my current tank is....I got it at PC and it was only 200 so I think anything is a step up for me. And honestly I've had no issue with my tank. Maybe we are splitting hairs here. I think I'll take a closer look at them next time I go into PC. I'll grill Joe a bit more about them:confused:

How did you put in a Herbie overflow? I think you need three drains? Did you drill two more?
I'm looking to upgrade soon.
