Deep sand bed or not

I'm currently running a DSB in my 240. My clown fish have decided that they prefer to have about 2" of sand here and there and maybe 6" in the corner and every few spots could be 4". So right now I'm considering getting more sand to bring the depth up to around 4"-6" to get a good DSB going but I've been doing some reading and searching and have noticed that a majority of the tanks out there are running a SSB for looks. I guess I'm torn at the moment between having more sand in the display or running a RDSB. I like the idea of having all the organisms in the sand and the sand being a filter it's self so I don't want to get rid of it. So I guess the question is...should I maintain a DSB in my display or just set up a RDSB under the tank?

It depends. If you can keep it clean and not loaded with detritus then sure go for it.

Most people fail to do that and in the end have algae issues or a full blown crash.

A DSB IME is not needed nor would I use one again.

Remote. Mine is in my remote fuge. Not sure if it is doing anything for me though. Something is working for me since nitrate <1.

Thanks everyone. I've been reading some more and am leaning more towards moving my DSB into a RDSB under the sump. I've read a lot of posts where people have had their DSBs crash so I'd like the benefit of being able to remove it if needed.
