Deep sand bed

I want alot of sand in new tank. 3 to 4 inches deep. Problem is that's alot of damn live sand. Does anyone have any experience using something like play sand or sandblasting sand then adding live sand on top maybe? Any other ideas? Anybody got some sand to sell? Thanks

Man I just threw a bunch out. Play sand made of silicates can be dangerous in terms of massive algae blooms. In the past there was an aragonite play sand that went by the name of southdown. I would use dry aragonite sand then cover with live sand or just go dry aragonite then add live rock.

Yea I was thinking that might be a problem. I wish I would have thought ahead and got that bucket u had. Is the aragonite dry sand only available through pet suppliers. I've heard of the Southdown and was told they remarketed their product to pet stores and exponentially raised the price. Thanks for the info

I personally wouldn't risk play sand but thats just me.
