Deep Sand Beds

Hi everyone!

I was wondering what the current consensus on deep sand beds is. There was a little dispute about it 2 years ago and was looking for anyone's input.

Any help or comments would be appreciated!

I use a dsb in my 40g mixed reef. It's been working flawlessly for years. No complaints here.

I like the sand for both filtration and asthetic reasons. There will always be dispute. You just have to go with what you like.

You are asking about a subject with a HUGE debate. You'll find that there are many that are close minded on the subject of either going with a DSB or a BB. Both sides present great arguments, so my suggestion is to read... read, and then read some more.

If you have the time (and if you want to learn a lot more in addition to the Great DSB or BB debate), I recommend reading this thread in its entirety.

It's filled with some fantastic information by some very knowledgable people. I wish I had found this thread before I bought my first peice of equipment.
