I am setting this up as a frag tank and debating if I should do a bare bottom display and sand in the refugium or have sand in the display for equipment so far I have a bubble magus skimmer with a tunze hydrofoamer pump mod a radion gen 2 a 700 gph return pump going to start with a koralia 750 and buy one more powerhead eventually want controllable pumps on here but its not in the budget at the moment but really looking for pros and cons of bare bottom on this frag/ display any other ideas are welcomed too :)

I suppose I should explain why ha 1.) Sand beds are nice to look at in display tanks and even serve a natural purpose for some fish but in a frag tank it's just a phosphate trap. 2.) I've found sand can bother certain corals for example my chalices for one are much better up on a rack then on the sand bed. 3.) Coral won't be getting burried or killed off by same if they go missing, break off of the frag etc.

You can do it in a refugium. Or try refugium mud. I've personally never had refugium mud though so I can't speak for it.
