Deep water skimmer?

I made my sump a long time ago. It is approx 14 inches deep. I have about 24 inches of room to the top of cabinet. I want a new skimmer and all of the ones I look at have a recommendation of 6-8 inches.

I need either a short skimmer that I can put on a stand to keep it up and that will fit in the cabinet my sump is in, or I need a skimmer that can be in deep water .

Please Let me know your thoughts

Thanks

Skimz, bubble magus and seaside aquatics are all pretty deep running skimmers.

A SSA CS1 may be a good fit

Why not build a stand out of white egg create/zip ties in the sump and set you skimmer on that?

He says he only has 24" inside the stand so if he makes an 8" stand for it to bring the water level to 6" for the skimmer he would need a skimmer less than 16" high, plus space to remove the cup. Might be easier to find a way to lower the water level in the sump.

Have you thought about reducing the level of water you keep in the sump? Of course, that would limit the volume of water the sump adds to your entire system, but you don't have to keep the sump full for it to be advantageous.

My Eshopps S-150 works great in ~9.5" of water. If you want a pretty short skimmer, I think you're better off lowering the baffles.

It may not be an ideal solution, but what about an HOB skimmer, or two, on the sump? They are less than 24" tall and as long as the pump is in the water it does not matter how deep the sump is.

External skimmer?

Agree
you will need to go with an external skimmer where water depth is not an issue. You can also run an external skimmer in a sump if you don't have room outside of the sump

whats the tank volume, bio load and your budget

tank volume is 75 the sump is a 29 gallon.

I was thinking about bulding a new sump and swapping them out. Only problem with that that is that the plumbing is built into it and I am almost positive I would have to re-do the plumbing part just to get it out.

I could do this if it was the only way. I was just looking to see if there was an easier route than to do all that work.

I will look into the magnus and see if that would fit.

How much room do you think I would need to pull collection cup off comfortably? an inch?
