Defective 9020

catastrofe

Roger,

I received my 9020 yesterday, purchased from Fins Reef. As soon as I plugged in the right hand unit (when looking at the front of the unit), the pump started making a high pitched "buzzing" noise. Also, very little water is being moved and no bubbles are being generated. I dismantled the unit and verified that everything is hooked up properly. The air hose was actually disconnected from the impeller housing so I connected it and tried again. . .same problem. Little water movement and no bubbles.

The left unit works fine. . .

I don't know what parts I need, but clearly something is wrong.

Please help.

Thanks,

Bob

See the top thread on pump maintanence- the bush bearing is not full inserted- this is the collar around the impeller well. That is why the pump is noisy and doesn't work- it is engaging the brakes.

Exactly, all the pumps are the same except the shaft so the same thread has the answers.

Thanks Roger, the upper bearing was stuck in the engine block, just as you suspected.

Now the unit is running, but it's very loud, sort of a constant buzzing. Is this something that will go away over time? The second unit is dead-silent.

Thanks,

Bob

I think one of the brakes may have been chipped or broken by the hang up on that bushing. Wait a couple days but if it doesnt get better we have to assume that is it and you need a replacement.
