define alkalinity swing that cause harm!

Im just curious as to what you think of alkalinity swing?

im asking because i have 500 galon system with sps all growing ok. but i dose every 2-3 day. i get about .3 consumption per day.
so lets say:
day 1 8.5
day 2 8.2
day 3 7.9
day 4 8.5
....so on

Most would recommend no more than a 1dkh swing in a 24 hour period..
You are not in an area that would cause harm..

With 500g, a 100 dollar doser would be a great time saver and create huge stability

i just got calcium reactor for my system, since im also dosing calcium now, ill see it that will do the trick of keeping it more stable.

Also your magnesium: keep it around 1350.

magnesium have being around 1400 for me. its kind of stable from water changes.

Great add to your system, however accomplished, that stability, especially ALK can make a noticeable difference.

since i started this thread, thought i ask here this. When i bought this calcium reactor (octopus cr220) i was told that since some of the co2 will be going into the tank it will also feed algae, causing algae blooms. the guy advised me to put return tube by protein skimmer inlet so it could be aerated a little. I have no experience with calcium reactors yet, is that sound like a good solution? is there a better solution to prevent possible algae grows?
