Deionizer Resin??

Is the de-ionizer resin that comes in R.O./DI units the same media that companies use for water softner systems? a water softner system consists of a resin chamber that is recharged with sodium pellets, is that the same media used in RO/DI units???
Anyone want to shed some light on this please??

No, the resins that are usually used are Kati and Ani (Cation/Anion) and are not the same as what is in a water softener. although you might find a large whole house DI unit next to the water softener

Water softeners use cation beads only. In our RO/DI systems a resin of mixed cation and anion beads is typical.
