Delis hand

Have a Devils hand for the last year that is on the larger size, one month ago I added a Foxface to my DT 150g. and my FF took a liking to the Devils hand and living in it at night. Two weeks ago I noticed my Foxface had small white dot that had a small brown ring that look like Ich and his skin staying darker in spots. Thinking O Come on why?! So Ive been trying to resolve it by less stress, garlic drops, Kick Ich exexe. So two weeks of that and he's still has the dot but he's acting normal and not showing any other signs of Ich. So I spent some time watching him to fig out whats going on. While watching him I noticed that the dots were worse in the morning than in the afternoon. When frightened by my 3 year old running past the tank he'd swim into the coral and stay there for 3min or so and when he left he had a lot more dots then when he entered and he'd stay darker around the spots. So I took the coral out and placed it in my Fuge and for the last 3 days his color is back, almost all the dots are gone. Could this be the leather corals mucus attract sand that sticking to the FF?

Do leather corals sting fish?
Can the leather corals slime hurt the fish?

If this does not resolve the dot I'm going to qt all fish with copper and go fishes for 3 months.

First of all it doesn't sound like you have ich. I'd like to see a picture of this dot you are speaking of. Sure something on the leather could be irritating your fish but lets see picture of both the fish and the coral.

Don't arbitrarily treat something until you know what it is, kick ich and garlic don't work and no need to treat for something you don't have. There are better ways to treat ich than copper fyi.

Here is a pic of the coral, the Devils hand is in my sump and semi-closed

The brown/white spots since taking the coral down to the sump have receded 10x what you see.

What other corals do you have in your tank? Sometimes when a fish brushes up against certain LPS corals it will leave a blemish on the skin. There's a name for this, but I can't remember it right now.

That might not be a Devil's Hand btw. (Lobophytum) It looks more like a Cladiella IMO.

Those are the polyps and how the coral eats plankton etc

I'm not so certain its the devils hand causing this. I would expect that from a torch or possibly the frogspawn that would be stings. With the acro or the birdsnest would be more scratches than anything.

So I'd suspect the hardest stinging coral you have and that's the torch

Please show us a full tank shot
