Deltec AP600

I just got my DELTEC AP600 hooked up on my 54 gallon corner its been up for less than 24 hours and Im already getting some pretty nasty nog......Its nice to be part of the family!

I got one recently too. After 4 days I've got 2 cups of the nastiest gunk I've ever see. Nice skimmers!

I am in the process of setting up a 120g tank with sump and was trying to do some research on skimmers. So far I have heard all good things on the Deltecs. Its seems the population is going toward ASM because of cost but do you think the deltec is worth the $$$ ? I don't mind saving up and paying the extra if its going to work well.

I hope this doesn't become out of hand i'm just curious since I have never owned a Deltec, only a ER in the past.

I saved up for a deltec, and just got it running (ap 851) yes, it's worth it!

Skip the ASM. Save up for a Deltec if you can.

This is good news, i'll save up then. I know the skimmer is an important piece of this hobby so I don't want to cut corners

That's a good way to think about it. Seems like most people say they love there ASM's but really don't know what they are missing. Your skimmer is one of the most essential pieces of equipment you will buy. As the saying goes- you pay for what you get.

My other advice... buy oversized. You never know when you may want to upgrade to a larger tank. My 851 is rated for a a 400 gallon medium stocked reef, or 270 gallon heavily stocked tank, but I think it's great on my 120.

this is a piece of equipment that is built to last too.

Don't have room for the 851 (or 701), but I am getting an APF 600 for my 75.

Thats the one I started to look at also APF 600 past that is getting to be to much.
