Im considering a Deltec or Euroreef for my 120. I currently run a Euroreef on my 54 and love it but I heard great things about the Deltec. The deltec im looking at is rated for 170 gallons and the Euroreef for 220 both will end up costing me the same. Any opinions on this anyone??

deltec mc500 and Euroreef CS62 are the 2 Im deciding between

Euroreef CS62. Forget the Deltec MC stuff.

I have a Euro Reef CS12-2RC and I have a Deltec Calcium Reactor. I like both, but I think that the craftsmanship on the Deltec is better than the EuroReef skimmer. I know that I am comparing oranges to apples, but quality of work should carry throughout a company's whole line.

I also have had a problem with my skimmer leaking. I finally broke down and fixed it, but it entailed me heating acrylic, cutting a new hole and installing a Uni-Seal to make it better than new and fix the leak. I feel that for 1500.00 brand new, the EuroReef should have come the way that I had to modify it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Bill. My current Euroreef is great but its only on a 54. With the $$$ invested in the 120 I want the best. I think the Deltec is what I will buy. Thanks again

After dealing with ER customer service... That alone makes Deltec better. The fact that the Deltec skimmer works much better is a plus.

It's no secret that Deltec took designs from ER. It's basically common knowledge on RC. Do you want the Copy of a Deltec? or the real thing?

I have had the pleasure of taking apart the ER Beta pump:) Besides the horrible copy job it was all of Deltecs ideas minus the craftsmanship.

Also take a look at the " For Sale Section" What skimmer is always up for sale????The only time a piece of Deltec equipment sells is for a upgrade to a bigger model.

No problem:) I spent alot of money on skimmers to get the one that works the best. I also had to spend alot of money to try different skimmers to find it.

I ran a CPR IIr Hang on
ETS Reef Devil tried 3 different pumps to try to make it perform.
Then I had my ER that I bought then had it turned into a Recirc with the beta pump.

In the End the ER was very nice. But my pump rusted. They were nice enough to send me a replacement but by this time I had saved enough for a Deltec.

Does ER make good skimmers?? Yes, you get the skimmer that you pay for. But the prices of ER have increased and it's closing the gap between a Good skimmer(ER) and a better skimmer(Deltec)

All said and done I spent over 900$ on different skimmers and pumps. I should have done it right the first time but I was cheap.

It should be the other way.

Deltec MC line skimmers have a lot issues. People are still waiting for some mod from Deltec to get it function properly. Read the Deltec forum.

Bought the Deltec..We'll see how it runs out..Worse case scenario I switch to the Euroreef running my 54. I have about 4 weeks before any fish see the tank anyway. Thanks everyone for your help

You should go back and read again. Its the MCE600 people are having issues with, not the MC500. Completely different models, as ones a hang on and the others in sump.;)
