Dendro or no? I.d.

congrats to picking one up plus that cool feather star!!

Thanks! Cant wait. Really interest to see what the polyps look like open in person and big the colony actually is. It is exactly what I was looking for. 100+ is crazy and probably the biggest colonies I have seen brought in. Actully, let me rephrase that, the largest colonies legally brought in.

For the Crinoid, it actually looks like the same species as my black & green one. What was interesting is when I was talking to Greg (I believe that's who I was speaking to) he said these are from the Caribbean not Indo/Pacific, which could be one of the reasons why these are more durable than their Indo counter parts, we shall see.

might head back and get this

How/who?

Just curious...

The new one's you posted surely seem to be in the Dendrophyllia genus to me, the initial photo you posted has more oval polyp but still makes me lean towards Dendrophyllia based on the growth formation towards the base.

I got it to feed, tiny white feeder tentacles.

Erik,
If it has been in their system for a while, go for it. They are delicate an normally expensive (especially if it is over the size of a baseball). I would they are as hardy as a blue lollipop tunicate.

for tunicate reference try: http://www.ascidians.com/

he's had it for months, I've kept two color morphs of it for over a year. I found it on the easy non photo side...grew like a weed. Greg has it in a few tanks from spawning I would guess.

That is good to know. The last ones I had sent in from a different vendor, they were orange and gray, shipped rough. I guess I will have to call Greg next week.

Nah, trade them off before I got out of np tanks. It was to costly to feed a 360 gal tank. The new 60 gal will work out better cost wise :)

not trying to hijack the thread. need opinion on what this is. looks similar to the first post. got it on a trade as pink dendro. don't think it is. one of the shot is a comparison to the typical orange dendro. the differences i noticed are the pink one has not grown in size nor number since i got it, over 6 months ago, whereas the orange ones grew in size and number of polyps...from 20's to 50's? they both are fed mysis every other day to everyday. thanks in advance.
