dendro

although dendros and duncans are in the same family, they are not the same thing... different genera.

i believe duncans have zooxanthellae, where as dendrophyllia do not. if you're not a fan of spot feeding, i wouldn't get dendros. from what i hear and see, they multiply via budding pretty frequently if well fed.

hope that helps a little :)

Dendrophyllia and Tubastraea are asymbiotic--they don't use light for energy. Duncanopsammia is. Duncans need light, and IME color up really nicely if acclimated to really intense light.

All 3 should be fed often with mysids, cyclops, etc. Duncans less so, but they will grow fast if you feed them often.

Year and a half or so, this one's gone from 11 to 40+ polyps. It's huge!

great pic, juan! :)

steve... yep, sun polyps (tubastrea) and dendros are often pretty difficult to tell apart. the biggest clue is usually the price tag. hah. sun polyps usually go for 30 bucks for a decent sized colony.... dendros are more like 60+ bucks per head.
