Dendro's not opening

Bought a 3 headed colony of Dendro's yesterday and drip acclimated them to the tank and put them in. I placed them up under a ledge kind of in the shade and they have not opened yet. Is this normal? How long should I expect it to take before they open?
Thanks

you have to let it settle, get used to your tank. then enitise it to open by feeding it. it could take a week or so depending how it was taken care of in the LFS you got it

they're still new, give them time. they're extremely hardy corals. you can try enticing them like chiclet said, just wave some food around them and they should start opening up.

I'm figuring out tht some dendros just don't open until night, my first one still only opens at night and its been in the tank for over 4 months. But its very healthy so I feed it at night.

So i don't know why this is but enticing mine with oyster feast and food did not convince my first dendro to open in the day? So I think some are just set in their ways. If it only opens at night feed it then. It is still healthy!

hmm I would still go with the food and work at it...............mine all open during the day, right after I tease and feed them

From your picture I'm thinking that your "first dendro" is actually a Balanophyllia polyp, which would also explain why it is very light sensitive.

Regardless it's a beautiful specimen (along with your other one)

Hummm...could be, I have looked into that but all signs pointed to dendro. I asked the store owner I bought it from and they said dendro too. But I think you may be right. I have tried every trick in the book to keep it open.

That first pic doesn't quite look like a dendro to me - I think Austin is right with his ID, it certainly is beautiful though. At least it eats in the dark, I'd be worried if it wasn't eating at all.
