Denitrifying Filters

Yeah, but does it work? I'd like to see some practical, real world, results before investing that much money in something like that. Ideally, I'd like to see third party data with measurements of nitrate and phosphate in the water entering the "filter", measurements coming out of the filter, and net results in-tank. If I didn't just get that ozonizer, I might consider experimenting with it myself.

The ozonizer what was the cost? How did effect your tank?
Brand also would be a help? Tank size?
Thanks Mark

Not here yet, I just bought it. Ozotech Poseidon (200) with DI dryer on AM ORP controller, dual ported into MR-4 skimmer. Everything's here or on its way, actually, except the ozonizer. :(

Oh, sorry, total cost with everything was just over $500.

How does it work? Or a Link to the one you are going to try?
I was hoping someone was using one of these Den. Filters!
No water changes sounds almost to good to be true. $550 would be worth that alone!

A bucket of sand seems like the best long term solution to a nitrate problem..... And it's only about $10 with all the fittings...etc.

Show me what you mean? And is this a home made filter?
Excuse the dumb Questions upfront!

All you need is a slow flow/trickle through a bucket of sand and you've got a denitrifying DSB. Probably not as efficient as a dedicated denitrification, but, IMO, more stable. Note that this filter requires an additive, without which anaerobe colonies might potentially crash, kind of like yeast CO2 units will crash if not restocked/fed.

Is anyone familar with this filter or one that works the same?
www.northcoastmarines.com/denitrifying_filters.htm
Or is anyone using some kind of material in a reactor to reduce Nitrates?
Thanks in advance Mark

How about the Coil Type they seem to cost around $150.
Seen a few different brands on Ebay? Anyone using one of these?
