Deresa Clam Issue

I have a rather large Deresa clam that tonight I found that it split its mantle, more then likely stretching for light. I am not sure what the future has for it.

Hummm,

I don't think it was becuase it stretched for light but more likely a fish, crab/shrimp. If the clam doesn't continue to be stressed by that fish/crab/shrimp, it's prognosis should be just fine. It'll heal. I had a large Emperer Angel that took multiple bites (after 2 years of co-existing peacefully together) out of my 12" squamosa. After seperating the 2, the clam healed up nicely with no adverse effects.

Mine had a split but healed pretty fast. I think clams are more versital than we give them credit for, well, at least mine is. I was in a really bad car accident and couldn't take care of my tank for a few weeks and had several things die and or bleach and you would think the clam would be first to go, but no, it came through fine and has grown 3 inches in the past 6 months.

Is that gsp growing on the shell? lol
