Deresa

I've got a 6" T. deresa on my sandbed. Every once in a while he'll expel water and close up. He's healthy and happy, but as a result of his moving, he's pushed through my sandbed and is almost on the bottom of the tank.

Is this going to be a problem? Should I move him -- he's happy where he is -- and get some sand under him?

Thanks for the help.

you dont need to move him if it looks happy. you may want to put a shell or something like that under him, so he doesnt attach to the bottom of the tank. good luck to you

Maybe a flat piece of rock under the sand bed for him to attach to.

well, he'll still have a foot, but won't anchor with the byssal threads as younger derasas do. I agree though, if he's happy, leave him be.

When they stop attaching is highly variable. In the wild most don't let go until they are large enough for their own weight to keep them in place and resist wave activity.

My guy doesn't seem to attach. I have him on the sand in front of my wavebox. He's very happy, opens wide and looks good, save the PS.
