I got one head of dendro/sun coral (don't really know the difference, but whatever) had it a week in a half shortly after puttin it in the tank it opened up... awsome opened and closed often fed it and it responded like it should, but I have not seen it open in like 3 days. water is good. don't know about calcium but I do 10% weekly so everybody else is happy. Is it time to start dosin? I have calcium that came with the seamax but kinda freaked out about puttin anything it the tank, although I know it is only a matter of time. what's this A & B I often see here on RC? I have a donunt, hammers, star polyps, buttons, xenia, and the closed up dendro and a few mushrooms, and mushroom coral.

Well before adding an A-B you need to get test kits and know where you stand. Alk should be 7-11 dkh and calcium 380-450 ppm. Once you know what you need, you need to dose to get within those parameters and then test to see how much your tank is using so you can get into a regular scheduled dosing regime.

A very interesting Coral. I had them in my old tank. I had them trained well. I would feed the whole tank with some frozen mysis. That would make them open up. Then I would spot feed them with a turkey baster stuck thru a cut off section of a 2L bottle. (The part with the cap and left about 4 or 5 inches. It worked great! Colony grew well. They would rarely open unless I was already feeding the tank but when I did they almost always opened up. If you have a lot of flow you might want to cut your powerheads off. Good luck they need a lot of care to be healthy.

thanx dog, thats what they did for me, as soon as I fed they would begin to open, then same spot with baster and they seemed happy, just the last few feedins they just did'nt seem to respond so I did'nt spot feed. should I try to spot feed them even if they are closed.

No don't force them to feed. What are you feeding them? I used
mysis with brine shrimp and they liked it. Hardest part was keeping the fish from getting to the food before the coral could eat. Give it some time but they should start eating. If they get real pale them you know you have some problems.
