I've had it a month and the shell has grown a quarter inch. does this mean that it is healthy and will not die without a major/sudden problem

there are no guarantees, especially with a flame angel ( known to nip at clam mantles ) in the tank but new growth is a good sign that your Ca and ALK are good and the clam is happy for now.

my flame has plenty of algae to nip at for now I new it was a risk when I got the clam.
