Des Monies Area tank tour

I'm organizing the Des Moines area tank tour so please post what weekend and day you would be interested in getting this thing going. I'm exited about this after seeing a few peoples tanks already.

What month are you thinking of? Last year's tank tour we had food at the last house so it should be warm enough out to go outside and hang out and talk, grill, etc.

Normally May is the best time to think about doing that anyway.

At any rate, I love to look at other people's setups so I want to participate. Oh and I can have folks over too although my tank is not all that great or anything.

I think this is supposed to be our April meeting. The 1st or 8th would be too soon. The 15th is a holiday, that's why I suggested the 22nd.

We may just all meat at a pizza place after the tank tour rather than grilling out if it's too cold. We were at HOC's place last time and nothing will touch that.

We should get a list of tanks we want to see in the area. I know Dan's tank comes to mind.

I've been asked to organize this event instead of an April meeting. April is looking up with weather forcasted to be in the 60's this week.

No tank is considered unworthy of a stop on the Tank Tour. I'd love to start a smaller tank so I would like to see some of those as well as some of the larger tanks. If you don't want to share you are still more than welcome to tag along on the tour to see everyone elses tanks.

Once we have a list of stops that will help determine a timeline of events for things like a picnic or grilling out.

I'll volenteer mine if anyone is interested. It's about 25 miles outside of DSM though. If anyone does come, I'll need to hurry up and get rid of the Iwasaki's. ;)

If it's later in April I'll have the new VorTech pumps on the tank which I know some people were interested in seeing anyway. At any rate, I'm in Des Moines and would be happy to have folks come on over. I can do refreshments as well.

It's best to see my tank around 3:00-ish or later. My lights come on late so I can enjoy the tank in the evenings when I get home from work. If you come over too early you'll see a dark tank.

Feel free to play some pool and pinball if you'd like too ;).

By the way, I'd like to see MWood's 300 gallon tank.

If you don't have the vortech's in time, we should arange to show them at a meeting. I'd love to see them.

Also, that's a really good point about time. My lights don't come on till 2 and all halides aren't on till 5. After 5 would be best, unless I can get the LPS to come out early that day.

I know there are more members in the Des Moines area than 4 that would like to see other members tanks. Don't be shy...

Even if your tank is very young or almost empty this is a great opportunity to learn alot from other members in the club and show us what you've got.

My tank is only a littel over a year old 75 gal but placed in a kind of a differnt spot. It is in-wall under the basement steps if that might interest some people i would be open to guest.

Brreef,
I know there is one thing you have that I would like to see and that is the T5 fixture you've ordered and the location under the stairs sounds cool too. Everyone has that wasted space in their home that could be put to good use.

People are welcome to come over and check out my 125, weekends probably work best for me but the wife will be at work and I'll have the kids to watch, so if any of you have youngins bring them by. The fridge is always stocked, I'll also have the vortecs (if I ever get a tracking number) and ready to kick anyones assss in pool... (Brad I'm calling you out)

I'd love to come. My tank is nothing right now so i don't have much to offer but would love to see ideas. I'm from Des Moines near drake

I vote we go to JJ's (tinytool). Now that he has his frag tank up and running, it will be like going to a fish store.

We need to come to an agreement on a date to hold the tour. When can everyone participate? I'm almost thinking a Saturday over a Sunday myself simply because everyone would be in less of a hurry to get home. Maybe consume a few drinks while we pour over JJ's frag tank and kick his a$$ in pool.

Your thoughts

Any weekend in April but the last one works for me. Let me know, I'll supply the beer. Maybe we could get some money from the club to order some pizza's (I know I have 10 bucks in there from the raffle that I never won) lol.
