design suggestion

Roger,

I have a design change on your streams that might make life a little easier for us stream owners.

As always happens, the alarm on my streams picked the worst tiem to go on, in the middle of the night. So, I get out of bed and go to my fishroom to track down the noise. My next step was looking for an on/off switch, couldn't find one so I had to trace the electrical lines to their respective outlets. This is not easy to do at 3am w/o contacts on.

Having an on/off switch on either the Multicontroller or the little blue boxes that shut the pump off would be much easier.

My next question is this: Will the likely source of the alarm be corrected by cleaning out the pumps or soaking them in a vinegar solution. My housings are extremely caked with caralline growth which I suspect to be much of the problem.

PS: At least it wasn't like my smoke detectors which require either a 6' ladder or, in two cases, my 20' extension ladder to change the battery.:D Those always seeam to start chirping in the middle of the night.

You could just pull the transformer plug from the driver. I would unplug the transformer before reconnecting the plug to the driver but that is the simplest way. You will likely need to scrub all the parts with a toothbrush a little. I would check all the moving parts. You don't need to fully dissassemble it but this is the usual problem though a heavily clogged intake could also cause a problem.

VegasMike, hi.

On your wiring question generally, you can always label each plug so you know what it powers. I either put a label above the plub on the powerbar, or a small flag on the cord just behind the plug head.

Sorry, I'm a bit anal when it comes to such details :)
