Desperately need a chiller for a 40 gallon.

the peltiers are one side hot one side cold, and a couple wires...

apply volts, one side gets hot the other cold, add a heat sink and fan to the hot side and the cold side gets colder.

i would test it on a less important tank to get an idea of how much voltage/current you need to do how much cooling...

There are no lights, heaters (duh, lol) pumps, etc. in the hospital tank, and even with a fan, it only lowered around 5*F. The tank is 10 gallons, and has a very large, very powerful fan blowing over it. This is gonna KILL me, but tonight i'm gonna leave my window open nearest the tank. It's been very cold up here lately...it was a little hotter yesterday. Just got back from seeing "Employee of the Month". Not worth the $8.00 IMO. Jessica is not a very good actress...

The water level is a little low, so maybe if I add some, it will get blown over more, and get to a lower temp.

We'll see...

boy you said a mouth full...

you can get the cold into the tank by placing the cold side incontact with the tank, or as i would do it, make a cooling loop out of some hose and waterbottle with salt water in it, dip the middle of the hose in the tank and attach the cooler to the bottle... fill it all up nice and full...

Search for the thread about Jasons cooling tower. I wouldn't recomend most things he does, but that was a good one.

I'll get the plans for you, one of my customers built it, they had to get a controller for it because it dropped their 75 gallon to 60ish degrees

http://www.guarriello.net/aquarium.htm Check out the DIY page on this guys site.
This is the same thing my customer did with his, the controller is to turn the circulating pump on and off as needed.
Very cool idea!!! if you have one or find a used one you could build a chiller for under $100 bucks.
