Hi All I'm fairly new to clownfish breeding, and I have several question for you expert clownfish breeders.

My understanding when looking at a bonded pair or future spawning pair, that the female is usually the largest of the pair.

So let me throw this to you, and will provide pictures for your input. Over 3 years ago I had purchase a pair of SC .. a single SC clownfish direct from Doni Reef, and the other from another well know breeder Kent aka Houseofclowns. At the time when I first purchase them they were juvenile no bigger than a 1" in size. Looking at them in my tank they were about the same in size. They fought for a while, but in time they got along. Like most hobbyist, I'm guilty I got bore, and sold the pair to a friend. So 3 years later, I wanted to breed clownfish, and I went on a mission to get a pair of SC...was not easy! But finally, I bought the same pair back from my friend who I had sold to originally. Anyhow...let's get to the question? These guys are at the breeder size/age and should be spawning. My question: which is the female of the two? because they are almost the same size! One is always in the pot, and the other is outside of the pot. When the outside tries to go into the pot, the one inside the pot kick him or her out. Looking at my brookstock, I see the female is the dominant and tends to have ownership of the pot!

Appreciate your input.
