Detritus Eater Question

I am wanting to get something that will handle the detritus in my sump...A couple questions though

I know the nassarius like to bury in the sand but I don't have sand in my sump, so will they do fine?

Do things like serpant/brittle stars, nassarius, etc... need light? I don't have a light on my sump...

Any other suggestions would be more than welcomed.

Siphon out the sump when you do water changes and suck out the crud.

I do but it's hard to get to some of it with the LR in there...I've tried turkey basters, etc...Last time I took all the rock out, got out what I could and pulled the rest out with a wet/dry vac

I was just thinking I could throw a dozen nassarius and a star down there but didn't know if they needed light?

They don't need light. It should be ok to do this.

My turbo snails eat detritus. This is unique but I have a bb and they keep the bottom pretty clean.
