A Goby will do the same damage as a sand sifting star. They eat pods and other beneficial critters from the DSB.

Sand sifting stars and Sand sifting gobies don't eat detrius... Get some snails (cerith for example) to eat it up

yeah i think flow is the best, i have a SEIO 620 on my 55g and i keep it jsut so the it doesnt move the sand but has alot of flow over it, i have no snails and no hermit, jsut one marble star and my sand is white.

Well, I put a SEIO 1100 on my tank and it appears that I have really flow now. LFS had no cucumbers or conchs.

Make sure if you go with cucumber to go with the tiger tail aka sand sifting cucumber. They are by far the easiest to care for and have less chance of spilling their insides into the tank.

Flow combined w/a good, safe cleanup crew will be best. Cerith snails, tiger tail cuke, and fighting conch will be your best friends.
