Detritus

Hello I have detritus in my overflow. It is a very small opening. With the PVC return I can barely get my hands in there. Should I put something in it or try to vacuumed it out? Any advice would help.

I just leave it or if your worried about it use a turkey baster to get it suspended.You can also try a 3/8" tube if the detrius is settled to get to the bottom of the overflow.

Turn off your return pump and try to syphon it out. Your can try place a filter fiber in there and catch it, but remember to replace with new one every few days. Use the filter fiber w/ caution b/c it can catch too much debris and clog the overflow box.

I guess I am not really worried about it but would it hurt to put something in there that would eat it ? And if so what??

The only that would work is a snail but it's not a very good ideas since it may move into your pluming and clog it.
