I am wondering if there is a device that you can plumb inline with your hoses that will tell you how much flow rate is moving through them.

the reason I ask is I will be running an external pump with a manifold that will run my carbon, GFO, external skimmer, ect. and would like to beable to tell about how much flow I am sending to each and adjust if needed.

Yes, there are inline flow meters suitable for aquarium use... here's a link to one: http://www.tomaquarium.com/prod_details.php?cat=32&p=20

I have about 20 of them in my garage. But I call them 5 gallon buckets. Just see how many seconds it takes to fill one up. divide 60 by that number. multiply by 5 gallons = gallons/minute. X 60 = gallons/hour.

Or just eyeball it like everyone else. :-)
