Devils Hand "Born" WHITE?

Hello all, first post. Glad to be here, been stalking for quite awhile.
My wife and I have a 14Biocube and 29Biocube. The 14g is running DIY Bridgelux 3watt Leds, the 29g is running Aurora Puck.
Getting to the point, 2 months ago I pulled a "Small" Devil's Hand from
a rock it had grown on. I transplanted it, all's well. Today, after my wife removed some small "grape" caulerpa from same rock....She found a solid
WHITE baby Devil's Hand...no stalk yet. It evidently sprouted from the
original base of the one I transplanted. My question is....Why is it pure white...complete with polyps? Granted it was hidden from the light because of the caulerpa, but why would it grow at all if not enough light? Will it change
color as it grows? Or will it stay white because it was "Born" white? Or is there
something going on that I'm not aware of? No pics yet, but it is about half the size of a dime.

Many Thanks...

There are "white" adaptations of just about all leathers but, being that it was hidden from the light, it could change or could not change depending on the Zooxanthellae it comes in contact with.
