Devil's Hand Leather Coral
I got this at Amazing Aquarium in daytona

It was quite beautiful in the store with lots of tiny yellow polyps. I got it about a week ago. However since I then it only occasionally has a just a few if any polyps out.

It is high up in the tank with 440 VHO on a 90 gallon tank.
Note: it is in close proximity to my frog spawn
Any suggestions? How long before I should worry?
Any have more info on the species

not sure on that species, but my toad stool is know to be bald for a week at a time, then sheds a little skin and back up and open. just make sure the frog spawn isn't touching it in the current. also, just make your perimeters are good.

I have been reading about this shedding in lobophytum. It is thought to be protective. It also may release chemical signals to other leathers. So, they all may shed at the same time.

I picked up a Devils Hand, was deep blue , but no polyp extension. When I put it in tank my toadstool closed up for couple days. The DH seemed to be doing good, fingers and polyps but color went to brownish. Just rearranges stuff and Toadstool closed up, and DH smaller, but now its deep blue again. Think higher up it would keep blue instead of brown? Or is the blue just when stressed?
