Di resin?
I am looking at placing an order for bulk Di resin. The price I have found is $198 free s/h for 1 ft3, thats about 30-35 refills on a standard 10" refill. The resin is a nuclear grade mixed bed resin.
I would like to find 4 people to come in on the deal. $49.50 each.
Please chime in if you are interested and if you know anything about resins and if this is a good deal or not.
Thanks Ade

i'm in. i'll trade you a full 5# co2 for a 1/4 share of the resin. (tried to PM but your box is full).

Ok just called the company, this resin is not the color changing resin if we want that it will be an addition of $35 per 1 ft3. You need a tds meter for this resin. Charlie they said that they could split the shipping, so let me know if you are still interested.
I said that I need 4 but if there is more than 4 that would be ok as well.

I used to buy resin from them when they were Resin Depot. Its good stuff, but their prices have gone up a lot (it used to be ~$150 shipped per cubic ft).

As long as you store it away from sunlight in a sealed bag, it should last a long time.

If you can't find 4 people, you can always get 5lb of either color changing or regular resin from buckeyefieldsupply for $39

Thanks mbort, not sure how many lbs are in a 1ft3. Do you? Being as you have used the resin would you think that it is worth the $. As long as I can get at least 4 to come in then I don't mind getting it. Is the resin from buckeyefieldsupply as good?
Matt I am sorry that I haven't got back to you but if that orks for you then I would like to do the trade. If I get 5# of resin fron buckeye would that be ok with you or would you prefer Resin Depot. I have to get some so it doesn't make any differance to me where it comes from I thought that it might be a good deal and a few of us could have saved some $.
Let me know and I can get some on order.
Sorry for the delay.

No, I really don't recall how many lbs in a ft^3 of resin. Best guess is somewhere between 20-25. I've never used the resin from buckeye, but a lot of others on reefcentral have. And the buckeye color changing is the same price as the non color changing.

I've had excellent experiences with the stuff you are looking at. I seem to remember about 10 or 12 ounces per 10" cartridge fill, but again its been so long that I don't remember.

non-colorchanging is better than color changing. the only reason they invented the color changing is because tds meters were $1000+ bucks back then. now they are dirt cheap.

resindepot says it's 52 pounds for one of their other cubic-foot bags.

i'm fine with anything you want to do though, as long as i have enough stuff you'd want in trade (too broke to come up with any cash at the moment). i still have enough resin from last time to last me at least 6 months, so i'm not in any hurry and if it doesn't work out this time i won't mind.

Hi folks - Thought we'd chime in here.

1 ft3 of resin is apx. 46 lbs
Each refill of a 2.5" x 10" cart is apx. 1.25 lbs

These numbers are approximate, as the water content of the resin isn't constant. Resin from the bottom of the drum is wetter and heaver.

Let's talk about this a little.

That's a bit like saying red cars are better than blue cars.

Remember that there are many different types of mixed bed resin - many are formulated for specific applications - i.e., the targeted removal of a specific contaminant, and mixed bed resin of different types have unique capacity for removal of contaminants in the applications common in this hobby.

Its like car models and makes. Each manufacturer has many "models" of resin - the color of paint on the car has little to do with the quality of the car.

If a vendor like Buckeye offers a color changing resin and a non-color changing resin, and assuming the source resin for both products is identical (as is the case for Buckeye resin), then both resins are for all practical purposes "identical."

Boy you're not kidding - resin prices have skyrocketed in the last year and a half. As petroleum prices do, so go resin prices.

We've held the price on our resin, but manufacturers sure haven't!

A note about the shelf life of mixed bed resin - we recommend you buy in quantities that you plan to use in no more than 6 to 9 months. Mixed bed resin, even when stored under perfect conditions, will loose capacity to do the job you expect if you store it too long.

Russ.
If you can match the price that Resin Depot has then I will buy from you. The resin is 40% Cation / 60% Anion, for 1ft3 (52#) For $198.49, for an additional $35 I can get the color changing resin still with free shipping.
I only need about 10# of resin, so I thought that I could buy in bulk and see if anybiody wanted to tag along and save some $$$.
So anybody, if you need resin then tag along. If all you need is a 1 or 2# then we can split it up. You don't have to buy a 1/4. Like I said all I need is about 10#, as long as I get the $ for the rest I don't mind how much you want.
