Could DI Resin be used as a filter media like carbon or purgen? would it remove to much of the good stuff?

no way . salt water would destroy it . besides have you ever tested the tds of salt water, its off the scale:D

DI resins will just bind the salt out of salt water, and would not be useful. But you could make pure fresh water if you used enough. :D

I think you can use an ani resin column charged with cl ions to remove nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate negative ions from sea water.

I do not believe that works. None have been demonstrated to be effective in seawater since they have to compete with massive amounts of chloride and sulfate.
