i recently got a diamond goby from a good lfs. it was eating mysis at the store and got a nice meal before i bought it. all my live rock is elevated 3inches on acrylic rods in a 4 inch sugar size sand bed. the goby had no trouble diging out a home. and sifted for the first day befor hiding for a week.

last night he was sifting is the back of the tank and looked nice and fat.like normal.

so i thought he was finally feeling safe.

today i looked at the back of the tank with a mirror to find my pepermints working on cleaning up the corpes.

water pars are normal. over sized skimmer 2 k3s.

specs.
65 gal tank
120 lbs lr
octo extreme 160 w/ red pin wheel
20 gal sump
10 gal fuge
1 sailfin tang
2 pj cardinals
neon goby small
2 false perks
1 blue green cromis
and less then 10 blue legg hermit crabs.

all other fish are acting normal.

i dont think he died in the burrow when i found he was out in the open and the peps had just started on him.

has anyone had a diamond goby that seemed to be healthy just die??

I was never able to keep diamond gobies in my 125gal. They would look fine for a week or two, and then turned up dead.

Very possible it chocked on something. I have heard people say that they have had it happen. Mine picks up stuff all the time, so its possible.

^ thats like a fire eater burning to death at a bbq lol

i think ill wait to try another

Woke up this morning to have mine on top of a double layered screened top I made - right in the middle. It must have jumped and wiggled it's way through the mesh only to dry out right over the tank... determined little animal.
