Diamond Goby looking for a new home...

After a few months in the new nano with a sand bed. Our "Diamond Dave" is the happiest fish I have ever seen. He/she turns the sand and keeps it pristine & white. I am one to try and recreate a slice of reef which includes sand. However his cleaning has kept a small sand storm going for four months. It's getting better but I gave myself the date of July 4th to make a decision.

He's a little guy -- ~2". If I had a second tank, I'd pull him out to see what happens. If any of you quality reefers want to take him, I'm not looking for a sale... I'd like him to go to a good home. If you have something small to trade, that would be great but not required. It sleeps under its favorite rock every night after moving every piece of tiny debris before diving into his little house. Entertaining in every way except for the sandstorm. I should have used bigger sand but went with the Southdown from my previous build. Breaking it all down is an option to remove the sugar-sized sand. However, since I am not really using it as a DSB I am thinking I just turn the sand myself during water changes.

All comments and suggestions welcomed.

Hi Squid dont have much to trade, fairly new in the coral departement but I dont have small sand so he should do fine would be happy to pay also, so if you dont get any better offers PM me

I'd take him if you think he would be compatible and Salty doesn't take him. I currently have a niger trigger (5"), a bi-color blenny, tomato clown (5-6") and a tobi puffer. These guys have all been happily living together for years now. I have a 90gal with 2-3" of the white Caribbean sand that needs a good cleaning!

I don't have a lot of coral to trade but I could give you some orange rics and a GBTA or two or three (my original GBTA has turned into about 14). :D

I'm on vacation for the rest of the week so if you can do it this week let me know.

I just found out I'll be traveling for work for the next several weeks. So in true Squidward style, I'll be putting the move on hold until early September. I'll re-post when I'm ready to pull the trigger. I may try to take out some of the silty sand and go with something heavier. He's a cool fish. Would love it if we can get to a win/win.

I'm home for a week so we put an empty water bottle in with a piece of fishing line tied to it. I figured it would take a while for the goby to get used to it. Plan was to let it get comfortable with the trap for a few days and then put food in and hope for the best...

It went inside the trap within two minutes. I caught him today and traded him in at ARC. Fair price in trade.

By the time we got home the four-month sandstorm had cleared. Lesson learned on fine sand and Diamond Goby combinations.
