diamond goby quarantine

I generally quarantine my new fish for 3 weeks in a bare bottom 10 gal tank. SInce diamond gobies are sand sifters, I am concerned about keeping it nourished until it goes into the main tank. What do you recommend?

1. Put goby directly into main tank where there is adequate sand and food,
2. Put some live sand in the Q-tank, or
3. Use regular procedure with bare bottom tank and feed preprared foods.

What ever you do make sure every last inch of the top of the tank is covered. Just last night, I had a Goby in my quarantine tank, just bought him yesterday, I had an inch of uncovered top right next to where the heater and filter hang on, I woke up this morning and he was on the floor!!

Now to answer your question. At the store I bought him at, they said as long as I had enough food on the bottom he would be ok. Hindsight, I think he would have be more comfortable with sand on the bottom. If I had it to do over again, I would put sand on the bottom, I think it would be less stressful on the fish.
