Diamond Hole Saw

Does anyone have a diamond hole saw? I have a stocked tank with water and all. I've thought about dropping the water level to half way and drilling a 1" drain along with an emergency 1" drain at a 45 degree angle up to the right of the primary drain. The glass is 1/2 inch plate glass from www.GlassCages.com .The return pump is a Sicce Syncra 2.0. After all plumbed, the return will be at 5ft. from the sump. If anyone can point me in the "right" direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

http://bit.ly/10hjL3E Something like this but drains on the end of tank. Also drill two 3/4" holes for return on opposite end.

bulkreefsupply sells them pretty cheap i believe. it would be difficult to drill with stock in the tank. Really only something you can/ would want to attempt with an empty tank and being able to set it on its side.

This is very similar to what I want to do, but with two 1" inch bulkheads/drains. All the action would be on the upper portion of the tank. My livestock is next to zero at the moment. I would feel better at night with bulkheads.

i like that. very sleek. too bad they dont make clear pvc. (at least that i know of =) )

It may be worth considering putting all your stuff into a big rubber maid container for about 24 hrs and drilling it while its empty and your able to turn it on its side. I could see working with drilling with livestock just turning into a nightmare. IMO

No need to turn on its side. The holes are close to the top of the tank. It's like an overflow box but glass on the inside of the tank. But, there will be 2 holes drilled at the other end of the tank for returns; with a check valve of course. I bought a 20 high gallon and a internal return pump.... basically I'm pimpin' out my tank.

You will need to turn the tank on its side cause you will need to make a putty dam around the hole to keep the bit wet while your drilling. Oh and yes they make clear pipe.

1 3/8" Od bulkhead from memfish which ends up with about a 1" ID after fittings
i think a 1 1/4" bulkhead will also work

ok. this is obviously something I've never done before. so, I need to get at least a couple of large storage type tubs and move everything over into them. Richard, do you have all that I need for drilling at your store?
