Hi everyone was thinking of getting one of these and wanted to know something. I have crushed coral for my substrate so the goby would not be able to disgard it through its gills so to speak like they do. I think the coral would be to large. Can I have one of these and its diet come from supplemental feeding when I feed my other fish? Or do you have to have a sandy substrate? Also, are these fish resilent to ick like most gobies and blennies, b/c for my last fish QT may not be an option on this one.

they sift sand constantly, thats also how they would build there burrow, so putting them in with crushed coral would be cruel to them, i have had a few of them, never a problem with diseases but they are jumpers, so be sure to have a covered tank, they are very skittish at first, and will try to get out of the tank.

OK, yea i read more about them and rulled them out. My substrate isnt appropriate. What about a pair of clown gobies or maybe citron? I think they would be better. Also if I have agressive tank mates how would I go about adding this little fish since they would be last? Thanks!

the fish you have listed don't seem "too" agressive, so all you can do is put them in and hope for the best, they will hide for a few days but in the end i think they will all get along

I had one for 6 months and he mainly sifted sand and stayed on the top of the sand.
I just bought another one and he's quite different. He made a 6" tall mound and he hides in there most of the day. There is no access hole and he blasts his way in and out. I couldn't imagine the pain of blasting through CC.:mad2:
